I was looking for a cheap and good sound card to record me playing guitar,then,I saw this baby,but,I was not sure if could be good for record music.But,I just pluged a microphone onto the soundblaster and I was like,WOW,is amazing how good quality you can get from this litle piece of hardware.Also I recorded some song from my oldy tapes,with the line in,and again I was like wow.I really recomend this litle candy,is not a professional card but you get a very nice sound with it :).

I was looking for a cheap usb option for my laptop and this looked liked a good option. I needed basic playback an recording facilities. Although it doesnt need external power for some notebooks you may need a powered hub and this was true for my Toshiba Satellite. For a cheap card it has a decent range of inputs and outputs including digital ins and outs.As I use it for recording I was most interested to check on noise levels. These were better than the onboard input. I also checked the frequency response and signal to noise ratio. The frequency response is reasonably flat though it falls off quickly above 19000 hz and is a bit wavy at the top end at 48khz. The 44.1khz were rather worse with a fall off above 15000khz The signal to noise ratio was around -83 to -84dBa which is not great but not bad either. The dynamic range was about 84dBa. These results were obtained with RightMark. For my basic recording it suits me though its best to record at 48khz and use software to change to 44.1khz rather than use the onboard sample rate conversion (which is a feature of Creative cards due to the fixed 48khz sample rate).

I am quoting same from another review , as it applies to me !Wonderful piece of hardware. Have no reason at all to fault it. Well packaged, good features, good build quality (gold plated connectors etc). Works well even under high CPU use. Very impressed indeed. Works 100% on my Advent Laptop Model 7006, P4 1.8, XP pro
